Like isn't the word. It'd pit it more into the category of obsession.
It's just so lovely there. Beautiful highlands, cities that feel old, the nautical sensation everywhere, the lochs, the people, all of it. There's the midges (parasitic bugs), but it's well worth the hassle of those. I definitely recommend you give into that want and go next summer if you can! :-D
I've been wanting to plan a trip as soon as possible, but with school and all and the shortage of money, it might be a while. I really can't wait until I get too, it sounds wonderful!
i think its horrible how you're getting so many bad comments about this picture! you did not ask for the DD, they should direct their comments at the one who featured it.
anyway, when i first saw the pic featured on the side of the page i WAS thinking "how is that a DD?" (not realising it was a stock photo - maybe i should read a bit better? lol) but, looking at the photo, i realised that this IS a good stock photo im sure there are alot of artists who can look at this and find inspiration, ideas for a photo manip, a drawing etc. yah, the pic does have both good and bad elements but what shot doesnt?
congrats and enjoy the DD
(and you definately do NOT look like a starving out of work hooker or whatever it was.. pfft)
*cackle* Thanks for clearing up the hooker thing, first of all. I forget who said that, but I'm not so sure why they're able to describe a hooker with such..experienced detail, either. :-P
Stock pictures raise eyebrows when they get DDs because it's a rule of stock not to alter your picture when you upload it; we're to leave that to the artists who use the stock. I crop my backgrounds out to some extent for the sake of nicer thumbnails and sometimes adjust the contrast so they don't appear dull (not every stock user does that themselves, so I figure it helps to some extent.) That aside, I don't change them. I don't want to make it look like a "completed work of art," and some people don't get that.
So here's how I see it: A DD in stock is different from the others. It's not a matter of a nicely done deviation; it's a matter of an element that can inspire and become a nicely done deviation, if not the picture itself, -something- in the gallery that provided it. All of the comments I've received today thus far that were on something else in my gallery have been positive, so I'm happy. ^_^
I think I've picked you to express it all to my fullest, so I hope you don't mind. I'm grateful for your kind comment. It's nice to have some support amidst some of the harsher criticisms, though thankfully (and I hope I'm not speaking too soon) those seem to be dying down now. Maybe people are actually reading before they post. ^_^
This is such a neat stock piece; you're very beautiful, and the combination of the gorgeous setting and the interesting outfit and pose make for a great photograph. It's really nice, especially since I read in one of the responses from the comments that your mother was using a pretty simple camera. It's a very spiffy art piece. ^_^
It's a real shame that so many people are giving you such a hard time about this piece being chosen for a daily deviation. I rarely comment on DDs because there is already so much feedback, but I feel that this piece is definitely worth more praise than it has recieved. (Some people just seem so cruel; I read all of the pages of comments and was a little shocked at some of the verbal hits you recieved.)
This piece was my first visit to your page, and I really enjoyed going through the rest of your gallery! Keep up the great work!
It's amusing, I've responded to all of the comments so it appears as though I've recieved twice as many as I actually have. *chuckle*
Thank you for your kind and reassuring comment. I know there are some rude people here on DA. I've come to expect it and submitted myself to the idea that this would happen when I learned about the DD. It's nice to have some reassurance, though. Thank you again, and thanks for checking out my gallery! That's what I want more than just views on this picture alone.
